Interests and record

  • I am a volunteer with Meet the Parents, bringing Camden secondary and primary parents together since 2013.

  • During the pandemic, I became a founder of the Childs Hill food bank where I regularly volunteer.

  • I have fought against the absolutely awful treatment of A-level and GCSE students during COVID-19.

  • I am an overnight volunteer with Camden Winter Nights Shelter.

  • I have been a committee member of NorthWestTwo residents’ association (Camden, Barnet and Brent) since 2012 - this residents’ association leads on several local arts and community projects across Cricklewood.

  • As a councillor in Barnet, I proposed we declare a climate emergency, and am active in preserving local parks, pressing the Council for action to clean up Welsh Harp.

  • I am part of the Save Barnet Libraries team.

  • I am a lead campaigner with the save Cricklewood Health Centre campaign.

  • Since 2016, I have been working with the community in NW2 to relocate a locally disruptive waste site.

  • Between 2005 and 2008 I was a volunteer with Sure Start Kilburn.

  • I am a longstanding campaigner to End Out Cladding Scandal. As a Councillor, I have worked alongside residents to push for change.

  • On the London Assembly, I am a member of the Budget and Performance Committee, the Economy Committee and chair of the Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee.

  • As your London Assembly Member, and the Labour spokesperson for fire and emergency planning, I proposed and passed the Building Safety motion, and have spoken with the Mayor about action that can be taken from City Hall in the absence of Government funding.

  • Working with the Mayor of London and Barnet and Camden Councils, we’ve delivered more affordable and social housing to tackle the housing crisis.

  • I have fought to improve bus services and prevent bus cuts.

  • As chair of the Fire Committee in City Hall, I’m delivering the investigation into unsafe batteries on e-bikes and e-scooters, to ensure better fire safety for all Londoners.

  • I have worked with the Mayor and the Councils to deliver more police despite Government austerity.

  • I have worked to clean up our air and our streets, working with TfL and the local Councils to bring in more electric buses, invest in street clearing and plant more trees.

  • To help with the cost of living crisis, I’ve campaigned for free school meals for every child in London’s state primary schools along with holiday meals programmes, which the Mayor has now delivered.

  • As your Assembly Member, I continue to do a huge variety of casework for residents across both boroughs - please email me if you have any issues that you need help with!
