About Me

I am deeply honoured to be Labour's London Assembly candidate for Barnet & Camden, following Andrew Dismore's retirement. You may know that the election was meant to be in May last year but has been postponed until 6 May 2021.

This constituency has been my home for the past twenty years; I've raised my family here, forged friendships and been welcomed into our many diverse communities.

I was born in suburban Chicago and moved to London, initially as a student, before becoming a British citizen in Camden Town Hall in 2007. My husband and I moved to Sydney Boyd Court on West End Lane in 2001 and our family have lived in Barnet and Camden ever since. Both of my children attend Hampstead School in Camden, where I am a parent governor, and previously served as Co-Chair of Governors. I am also the Vice-Chair of Governors at a Barnet primary school.

As chair of my residents association and a member of the Cricklewood Town Team, I led the campaign to successfully save the green space in the centre of Cricklewood from the development. The Town Team has transformed our local train station from eyesore to pride of place, with community gardens and art work.

In 2018, I was elected to my home ward of Child’s Hill in Barnet, as the first Labour councillor in forty years. Being the only Labour councillor in my ward and the three nearest wards, I deal with mountains of casework each week as residents come to me when they feel their Tory councillors won’t help or don’t care.

As your representative at City Hall, I will continue to be a strong, local voice and an advocate for everyone across Barnet and Camden.

“I’m supporting Anne because she has always been a huge champion of better education and opportunities for young people”

— Roshi, Finchley resident

"Anne serves a different ward but always takes the time to look after others, especially as our own Tory councillors in West Hendon haven’t been looking after us. We know we can always phone Anne and she’ll do whatever she can to help.”

Kim, Marsh Drive, West Hendon Estate resident

“It is the greatest honour to express my gratitude to Anne for everything she has done for my family, we are truly grateful. Anne stepped in and helped us with a horrible housing situation, we had black mold, no heat and a landlord banging on the door telling us to leave our flat with our newborn baby. We didn’t know our rights and Anne helped us get moved out of the tiny room and into a suitable flat. It was very complicated but Anne never gave up until everything was sorted. Anne gives us hope that good people really do exist.”

— Yanis, former Golders Green and now Kilburn resident
